Should there be function of uploading videos also ?
I don't think so . That is one more things the mods would have to monitor and having to watch videos constantly to make sure they are appropriate is unrealistic.
If the videos are unrealistic ..then a user can report abuse right ? then why will admins / mods have to monitor ? more?
Try giving it a little thought..
Right i am going to give please wait all
I prefer to link to pre-existing videos. Between PatrickJMT, MathTV, MIT, and Khan, pretty much every conceivable math problem from K-12 math is covered. :)
i for one think it's a better idea to add a "voice option" *then* a "video option" some time afterward
It would be pretty hard to explain a question using only voice option............
the only difference i see between video and voice is video has moving pictures...i for one think voice is more essential for learning rather than the moving pictures...but the moving pictures could come first then the voice too
I agree with ur last line @lgbasallote We could better provide a link for a private video class between the asker and the one who is answering using a site like wiziq.com........ there can be seperate class for separate question which should be automatically designed like an option (as we have one for draw) *join the class*............
what do u think about this @lgbasallote @mathslover
@vishweshshrimali5 are you familiar with a site called vyew?
no.........
oh so its the same sort of wiziq ????????? well we could use that..... i just gave an example.
hero took me there once. basically it's like a chat room. it has a live drawing board. if a person draws on the drawing board the other side can see it live. i think it would be fun to implement it here. vyew also has the voice option. it could be used to narrate what the person is doing in the drawing board.
that was what i was referring to
and that is what I am referring to................. :)
should we invite other people for their suggestions @lgbasallote @mathslover
So here is the motive of my idea , Actually , this idea came into my mind when i wanted to make clear something in comp. science group to explain a student regarding windows features / using windows etc.. In this videos will work fine and this is a good \(\large{idea}\).. Actually this was the basis of my idea: computer science group .. But having \(video\) option will also help us to explain the askers some thing with voice ? or by animations ? actually what animations are ? they are just moving pictures which make the things more easier.. Having only : voice option is not pretty good but having video option + voice option will be great .. I understand that this will make moderators feel burdened on themselves .. But I assure that just like trolls being put up in chat by many users and they are controlled so this can also be controlled .. ? if a user thinks that the posted video / audio is abusive then he/she can report his/her posted video/audio . This will be fine then as per my "opinion". Having only video option .. No problem but I insist / request hardly for this "video" option .. \(\large{NOTE}\) : I am not putting my idea about " live videos " in fact i am referrring for posting videos / attaching videos.. I will not say that it is necessarily to have anything : whiteboard like option but will only say that this will be a great idea if we have : an option for \(\large{\textbf{Attaching videos here}}\) .. Any more ideas/suggestions ? please go ahead ..
Attaching videos looks some what different to having online videos but : Online videos will be very difficult for moderators but my motive is to just put up an idea for ATTACHING VIDEOS HERE ..
the only question in my mind is...what is its difference from the proposal of @Hero a few days back?
Sorry I was not in that conversation.......... so don't remember.....
The basic difference is : Attaching videos looks some what different to having online videos I am referring to ATTACHING VIDEOS OPTION instead of LIVE VIDEOS .. At present i think there is no option for putting up videos here
ledah any points u want to put up here ?
hero's proposal wasnt live video..it was actually more leaned towards attaching vids like yours. although im still leaning towards the live drawing board + voice. seems easier to produce and seems sufficient heh
I'd like to have a function for uploading videos.
I do the following: 1) Find an appropriate video (MathTV, Midnighttutor, PatrickJMT, MIT OCW, Khan, etc.) and link it to the question or 2) Create my own short video & upload it to youtube (then link it to the question). I don't think OS would have need of an upload video option because these two options already exist.
@mathslover I am actually a bit against this. okay here I'll give you a scenario to think about. Let me type it up.
Take ur time ... . . . May be you are correct.. i wanted some against points behind this idea also ... thanks
Okay say if two of our users got into an argument. and the other was looking for revenge. That user who was looking for revenge could post an inappropriate video to the other users question. For added bonus let's say we can't check the video's first before they are uploaded... that video could contain a virus. or maybe explicit content. My point being we have some mature users and a majority that cannot grow up and mature enough..
You see I'm still on the whole fact that we need to hold off this idea for a long time. because some users post weird links enough as it is...
Well that is why @rebeccaskell94 put up the point regarding that admins will have to look up on it more and this will give a great load on them .. I agree with both of you .. Well wht do u think that should i wait for a moderator or just close this ?
My opinion is but one. you should wait on a moderator like mattfuery or chsalvey
Hmn nice ... i am going to wait for their suggestions
I think the same reason why OS will not put a section up for tutorials can be applied here. They are focused on live help. Voice options is a lot better than video.
