A triangle has the following measurements. What is a possible length for the third side? AB = 5, BC = 7, CA = ?

hero (hero):

Hint: |a - b| < c < | a + b|

hero (hero):

Basically, you can assume a = 5, b = 7, c = ?

hero (hero):

So once to figure it out, there will be a range of c values that will make the triangle valid.

hero (hero):

All you have to do is just input the values of a and b into that formula I gave you.

hero (hero):

and remember that |x| means absolute value

OpenStudy (anonymous):

is the answer 5

hero (hero):

5 is one of several values that could work.

hero (hero):

The range of values are 2 < c < 12

hero (hero):

so 3,4,5,6,7,8,9,10, or 11 will work but nothing else
