well hunny, the nervous system is a lovely system indeed. nerve cells send messages by either neurochemical or neuroelectric means. in the brain these messages can be sent by 'action potentials' this can release the chemicals stored in the synapse which can be sent onward and forward to the destination. a reflex action comes from sensory nerves that are sent afferently to the spinal cord which responds in fraction of the time than a response that the brain can respond. if you need clarification, ask.
