Given the equations y = 1x + 7 and y = 3x - 2, decide whether the lines are parallel, perpendicular or neither.

neither. In order for them to be parallel, they would have to have the same slope. In order for them to be perpendicular, the slope of one would have to be the negative reciprocal (-1/x) of the slope of the other.
