Hi there. I don't know how to solve this. It would help me a lot. For the following system, if you isolated x in the second equation to use the Substitution Method, what expression would you substitute into the first equation? 2x + y = 9 −x − y = −8

it's actually simple solve for x in the second equation -x - y = -8 can you do that?

−x − y = −8 That's the second equation. Isolate that. This means that we want x to be alone. For example that -y on the left hand side we want to get rid of it
