find the x and y intercepts for the equation -x-3y=9 please help with a similiar example

It is apparently, a line equation. So to see where the line intersects the y-axis, you will set x=0 so in your example, the line will intersect the y-axis at y=-3. And if you set y=0 then x=-9 which is where the line intersects the x axis.
