Neither.  The dinosaur layed the egg which had a mutation which was more bird like and gradually mutation after mutation turn reptiles into bird, and then a specific lineage of birds that lays infertile eggs was domesticated by humans to make us humans some tasty food.

Some could say God had a hand in the luck, tipped the odds, and some would say that's bogus that it was purely adaptation effectiveness and chance; but regardless nobody just went *poof* and there was a chicken.  ;-)  (well unless you count matter assimilators from Star Trek, but that's fiction)

B.  Something that is not quite a chicken lays an egg that hatches into something that qualifies as a chicken.

If you are a creationist who does not believe in evolution, only God could tell you if the first chickens hatched from eggs.
