Parallelogram FGHI on the coordinate plane below represents the drawing of a horse trail through a local park. In order to build a scale model of the trail, the drawing is enlarged on the coordinate plane. If two corners of the trail are at point A (-2, 7) and point D (-10, -1), what is another point that could represent a corner of the trail? (14, 7) (10, 7) (12, 7) (8, 7)

Does the scaling factor help you? This seems like a problem of vector geometry to me

OpenStudy (anonymous):

no

OpenStudy (anonymous):

10/7 would be a solution. That is the point B

OpenStudy (anonymous):

The only thing I did was comparing the lengths of the sides DA and IF, since they enlarge the Parallelogram, the entire Parallelogram is enlarged/scaled up, meaning that the side FG is enlarged by the same amount as IF

Do you know how to find the distance between two points @Gikundab ?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

yes

OpenStudy (anonymous):

So you can compare the distance between the original points IF with DA and then find the factor by which it is scaled up, then you can use FG as a representative direction vector to obtain the remaining points of the scaled up Parallelogram.
