There are a few questions I have. They are about trigonometric functions and the quadrants that they are in. Can you explain how you got the answers? 1. If sint = 0.29 and sinw = 0.43, both t and w are positive, and the angles determined by t and w are in quadrant 2, then which of the following statements is true? a. t > w b. w > t c. Cannot be determined 2. If cost = -0.42 and cosw = -0.80, both t and w are positive, and the angles determined by t and w are in quadrant 3, then which of the following statement is true? a. t > w b. w > t c. Cannot be determined

For the first one. Remember the unit circle. |dw:1343152486474:dw| Remember how sin 90 = 1 and sin 180 = 0?

THat means the farther you go, the lower sin gets. That means that the larger the angle in quadrant 2, the lower the measure of sin is on the angle.

sint = 0.29 and sinw = 0.43 So which one do you think is bigger using that?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

So t is greater in #1?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Yup :)

Thank you :)

Now for the second problem. |dw:1343152725470:dw| cos 180 = -1 cos 260 = 0 That means the closer it is to 0, the greater it is here.
