what 's the difference between young's modulus and shear modulus?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

i regret for posting it in math section!!!! but it's an emergency!!!!!

OpenStudy (anonymous):

youngs modulus is modulus of elasticity which includes only elastic deformation.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Young's modulus has to do with linear strain, shear modulus has to do with shear strain. Both of which are physical constants that depend on the material in question. Both also have important generalizations to hooke's law: \[\sigma =E \epsilon\]\[\tau = G \gamma\]
