How do you find the dimensions of a rectangle?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

any specific question???

OpenStudy (anonymous):

because dimensions generally mean length and breadth........

OpenStudy (anonymous):

I can give you one. (: the area of the rectangle is 180 square cm. Find its dimensions. Use the equation: L(L+3) = 180

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Could you please explain how you get the answer step by step?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

L here i guess stands for length.....

OpenStudy (anonymous):

L(L+3)=180 \[L ^{2}+3L-180=0\]

hero (hero):

@winterbubbles, I thought I told you to come to vyew.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

FIND TWO VALUES OF L from here............... accept the positive value and use the formula L*B=180

OpenStudy (anonymous):

AREA =L*B

OpenStudy (anonymous):

@Hero I accidentally exited on the thing and I didn't know how to get back since I just created my account today. :b

hero (hero):

You were not supposed to create an account. You were supposed to click the link I sent you.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

I GUESS HERE WIDTH IS L+3.......

OpenStudy (anonymous):

I mean I just created my account today. on here. and so, I don't really know how to move around on openstudy so i couldn't find the past question where you posted the link.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

okay & Nitz how do you find the value L though?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

ITS A QUADRATIC EQUATION.... USE THE FORMULA FOR FINDING ROOTS

hero (hero):

@winterbubbles, will you just click on the link I sent you? I can show you how to do these.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

ACTUALLY I NEED TO GO TO UNIVERSITY .........SO SORRY WILL EXPLAIN YOU LATER @winterbubbles
