I'm not sure I understand what you are asking. Do you mean that if you say for example write a Victorian Sonnet now, is it still a Victorian sonnet?

In regards to style, yes. In regards to the era, no. 

It's hard to determine what exactly you mean by "will it still fit". Can you clarify this and do you have a particular style in mind?
