Part 1: Write the equation of the line that passes through the points (–1, –4) and (2, 5). Part 2: Using complete sentences, explain whether or not it matters which point is used in the final answer. Also explain why you chose the point you did.

i know the slope is 3 so when you put it in point slope form it would be : y = 3x - 1

OpenStudy (anonymous):

thats where i stopped. If someone could help me finish, that would be greatly appriciated.

ganeshie8 (ganeshie8):

thats correct equation. you finished the whole question in one line !!!

OpenStudy (anonymous):

:D THANKS! but how do i , explain whether or not it matters which point is used in the final answer

ganeshie8 (ganeshie8):

you found slope by using hte slope formula, right ?

ganeshie8 (ganeshie8):

and substituted it in the equation, y = mx + c

ganeshie8 (ganeshie8):

y = 3x + c

ganeshie8 (ganeshie8):

not how did you find "c" ?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

y + 4 = 3x = 3 subtract 4 from both sides. doesnt -1 = c?

ganeshie8 (ganeshie8):

hmm i didnt get how you put first line
