Comparative Essay Help Please Grade 12

Hi, I have to write a comparative essay comparing “The Great Gatsby” as well as another book called “Second Hand Happiness” which isn’t really popular so I doubt any of you ever read it. I’ve never written a comparative essay before and I don’t know what to focus on and how to start or ANYTHING really. Some common relationships between the books are that they have the similar themes of: love, war, wealth. Yep. Oh and patriarchal society. And the setting as well… What is a good subject to talk about in your opinion? And any ideas for subtopics of those? Just examples doesn’t have to apply to my book. Thanks!
