When the person signs up for an openstudy account and presses the button for registration, they should be directed to the "Notification settings" page. I find that I am getting flooded with these mails of openstudy notifications, so I am suggesting that the person should configure the settings for this upon registration to avoid inadvertent frustration.

I think that may be a little confusing first time experience. Consider our most common: People come here to get help with a question. After they figure out what this site is for and decide that it is of use to them, they have to figure out how to sign up. Once they figure that out, they sign up to ask their question. Now imagine if they were redirected to a completely different page with a completely different purpose. It would be a bit confusing for them no? I'm not saying yr idea doesn't have merit: we definitely want people to not feel spammed from us. It should be noted that, there is "one click email disabling" in all of our emails. All it takes is one click to stop receiving email from us. Perhaps there are still issues with this feature, but one thing of the most important aspects of the site to us is a user's "first time experience" and if we are to do anything, we should be careful to not hinder that.
