Write down all possible subsets of set P using correct set notation.
i know it f,h,i,s but how can i write it using the correct set notation.
can u figure this out 24+z=43
would it be 24+ 19 = 43
do you know about "power set"
no
ok... so you want to list down all the subsets of P. can you tell how many elements P has ?
4 elements
did i get it
yes. now to list down subsets- a subset of P is just a another set formed with elements from P
P = {f , h, i, s}
S1 = { f } is it a subset of P ?
it is, because P has the element "f"
S2 = { a } can you tell if it is a subset of P ?
no it not because P dont have the element of ''a''
thats right !!
so you know what is a subset of P and what is not a subset! so try listing the possible subsets now... start with empty set : {} {f} {h} {i} {s} {f, h} {f, i} ........ can you try listing the rest of possible subsets ?
ok
P= {} {f} {h} {i} {s} {f,h} {f,i} {f,s} {s,f} {s,i} {s,h} {i,f} {i,s} {i,h} {h,i} {h,s} {h,f} hope I did right
looks you're on right track !! two things i notice - 1) you listed only upto 2 element subsets. you did not list 3 element subsets, for ex, below are also subsets of P : {f, h, i} {f, h, s} .... 2) there are some redundant sets in your listing. see, {f, h} and {h, f} are same sets. you shouldnt list them twice... !
oh ok
how it look now P= {} {f} {h} {i} {s} {f,h} {f,i} {f,s} {s,f} {s,i} {s,h} {i,f} {i,s} {i,h} {h,i} {h,s} {f, h, i} {f, h, s} {f,h,i,s}
