In humans, a combination of XX chromosomes results in a female zygote and that of XY results in a male zygote. From whom does a male zygote inherit an X chromosome? the father mother or both.

The X-chromosome = female
Y-chromosome = male
Women always give an X-chromosome, and the 'decider' of gender is the male, who gives either an X or Y chromosome.
I believe from that you can deduct the answer :)

and boys are: XY,
and mum only gives X-chromosomes ..
