The figure below shows line AB parallel to line CD. Segment EF is parallel to segment GH. What is the value of x?

to check if my method is right. . . what i think to do to get the answer is x+10=2x-40. . . i feel that this is the wrong method from the start. . . . can someone please help me?

I got x = 50...
x+10=2x-40
x+50=2x
50=2x-x
50=x

-x -x
10=-x-40
-10 -10
-x=-30
x=30
