one property of a rectangle is that the diags are equal right?
OpenStudy (anonymous):
yeah congruent
OpenStudy (amistre64):
another property is that the parts the stem out of the middle point (E) are all equal as well
AE = EC, can you set up that equation?
OpenStudy (anonymous):
2x+1=x+7
Right?

OpenStudy (amistre64):
yes, now lets see how youre solving that for x please
OpenStudy (anonymous):
2x+1=x+7
-2x -2x
x+1=7
x=6
OpenStudy (amistre64):
good,
now, would you agree that half of a diagonal is equal to .. pick on of the equations ... say
x+7 ?
OpenStudy (anonymous):
yeah
OpenStudy (amistre64):
so, if half a diag is equal to 6+7, then we would have to double that to get the full length ....
2(6+7) = diag langth

which equals 26
OpenStudy (amistre64):
i like 26 :)
OpenStudy (anonymous):
oh, thanks! :)
OpenStudy (amistre64):
youre welcome, and good luck
OpenStudy (phi):
I assume this is a typo?
2x+1=x+7
-2x -2x <----- this should be -x not -2x
x+1=7
x=6
but you do get the correct answer (how?)
