A marine biologist discovers a new tiny aquatic invertebrate species that lacks gills. The most reasonable hypothesis would be that the animal gets oxygen through A. diffusion across its skin. B. extracellular digestion. C. cephalization. D. lungs

OpenStudy (wach):

There are some invertebrate species with lungs and some receiving oxygen through cephalization .. So the answer to this question isn't very definite. Do you have any guesses on this question?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Only one of the answers here makes any sense. I think the most important information you have is that the animal is very small. It small size makes one particular method of getting oxygen possible that isn't an option for larger animals.
