Choose the slope-intercept equation of the line that passes through the point (-2, 2) and is parallel to y = 4x + 7.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

The slope of all lines parallel to y = 4x + 7 equals 4.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

parallel lines have the same slope. slope intercept form is y=mx+b; mis the slope and b is the y-intercept. So m is the same for both equations. y=4x+b. We no that it passes through the point (-2,2). so plug them in. y=4x+b --> 2=4(-2)+b --> 2=-8+b --> 10=b --> now just plug it in y=4x+b--> y=4x+10
