The way I see it, the most important people on this site (besides maybe its creators) are the ones who give really good explanations. That doesn't means people who give answers. There are many people who give answers. Giving answers is easy and not helpful at all. In fact, it hurts the asker by keeping them from learning in many cases. If you decide to give answers, don't trick yourself into thinking you're helping.
In contrast, there are a few people who teach, who take the time to give really good explanations. Instead of investing 10 seconds to find the answer and give it, they invest 10 minutes to guide the user to finding the answer on their own. They equip the asker with an understanding of the important math concepts, and then they explain how those concepts can be applied. These people are the ones who are doing the most good, who are actually helping the askers they respond to.

Annas, being respectful of other people and not blowing up at them or hold things against them, especially when they say they are sorry. Not being stubborn. Being able to be talked to and hearing others opinions or different perspectives. Encouraging someone and pointing them in the right direction not just giving answers. If you choose to be on chat be respectful of other members and have a sense of humor. Lastly, be like me :D haha jk

Alright, well regardless of who you are (I would hide my old profile too if I acted like this). Coming on hiding under a new username to try to be noticed is quite pathetic. Most people on here who are influential don't try to be. They are liked because of who they are and what they do.

You keep on answering questions, and then you get pretty much a reputation.

there was once a user here in openstudy who has responded to a lot of questions and even got a pretty high level. However, he was still not influential. Hardly anyone knew him. And so, he decided to chat for the first time since he joined four mounths prior. He knew it would be hard to gain reputation, even in chat, however, it wasn't hard for him. Fortunately, the moment he decided to chat, it was the prime of one of the most active users that time. With his help, this user rose to fame quickly becaause he would always make people laugh with his helper. However, it didnt last long. three months later, his helper quit after performing a big troll feat. That's when this user realized he wasn't really known. The moment his helper went away, hardly anyone knew him. So, he struggled to gain reputation again. He would be online in chat everyday for a whole day, but it didnt work; he still didnt become influential. A few months later, a second helper appeared. This helper would post very difficult problems every day that hardly anyone was able to answer. This user, on the other hand, posted riddles that clicked because while they cannot solve the very difficult problems, they would go to the riddles and laugh at its absurdities. However, the user realized he cannot keep living in the shadow of his helper. He needed to create his own innovation. And so, he created a series of tutorials. At first, it didnt click. But as his tutorials grew, more people began to appreciate it and imitate it. The user thought he finally has achieved becoming influential as he sees the tutorial trend grow in numbers. However, he has not achieved it yet. Up to this day, he still hasn't become one of the most influential users.

There was once a kid going through an educational site, and he found out about OpenStudy.
The kid was having problems with Pre-Algebra at that time, so he just found out some questions that he couldn't answer. He tried his best to learn what those questions were about and learnt more about the topic from many resources. Therefore, he learnt by answering.

He does his best effort all the time, but he's not the best. He competes with himself, but never succeeds. He has five role-models whom he wants to be like.

His prime is yet to come :)
