picture attached plz help..... i have the answer but i need the explanation the figure above shows the remaining pieces of a paper chain from which a section has been removed. the first link of the original chain was red and the colors of the links formed the repeating pattern of R (red), Y (yellow), G (green), W (white),B (blue) left to right. which of the following could be the number of links in the section that was removed? A)60 B)61 C)62 D)63 E)64
the answer is D but i dont know why
ohkey.. so you have a color pattern of 5 different color, which r repeating.. SO from the option, take a multiple of 5 i.e 60 Now chain is breaking at Green, so color after that White and Blue i.e = 2 and chain`s third section starts from, Yellow.. so color before that to complete the pattern Red , i.e only one.. so 60 +2 +1 = 63.. This is how i can figure out... there might be another approach...
its simply a case of setting and equation there 5 links between colours... and the chain ends at green and restarts a link early at yellow this is 5L - 1 the only number that fits the need is 64 5L - 1 = 64 add 1 to both sides 5L = 65 so L = 15 so there are 15 sets of links
