I just downloaded python 2.7.3, however I am not convinced I did this correctly as I can not find a way to type more than one line of code without having to run it (which seems to happen when I press 'enter' as there is no separate run option). Also I do not see anyway to save or copy the writing from python to another format. Any suggestions?

Download python from here: http://vpython.org/contents/download_windows.html . It comes with idle and vidle + visual library if needed:)

Run VIDLE, which will let you write huge programs, save them, and compile them when needed :)
