Hey. Which one is preferred python 2.7 vs python 3?

for what's written here http://ocw.mit.edu/courses/electrical-engineering-and-computer-science/6-00sc-introduction-to-computer-science-and-programming-spring-2011/software/ the best version to follow the course is python 2 since python 3 isn't compatible.
