Please help i have no idea how to do this problem can you show steps and explain if possible x^2-1.4x+.49 factor completely

OpenStudy (lgbasallote):

start by multiplying all terms by 100 to get rid of the decimal...it will make the job A LLOT easier 100x^2 - 140x + 49 now can you factor it out? or do you need more help?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

no I can get it from here thank you so much

terenzreignz (terenzreignz):

That works, but you'll have to remove that 100 after you factor it. I don't know the nitty gritty work in factoring, but here's one way you can go about it: x^2 - 1.4x + 0.49 This is equal to x^2 - 0.7x - 0.7x + 0.49 x(x - 0.7) - 0.7(x - 0.7) And from there, it should be simple.
