what is the meaning of resultant (partial)? in physics

OpenStudy (anonymous):

The Resultant (R) is a vector that is the sum of all the partial vectors that make it up. For example, all the different forces acting on an object are individual vectors, but by vector addition we can also represent the total force or net force on the object as a single vector, known as the resultant. So partial forces, or partial vectors of any single kind (ie all forces, all velocity etc) can be added to make up a resultant vector or net or total.
