explain how water and carbon cycles through the environment elate the cycling of matter to the success of an ecosystem explain the importance of effective resource management
How much do you know thusfar about these cycles?
well i know about carbon cycle and how it cycles through thermal mechanical and chemical energy
for nitrogen cycle i know the cycle Chemical energy: Stored in ammonia (NH3) through nitrogen fixation. Chemical energy: Stored in nitrites (NO2) through nitrification. Chemical energy: Converted to nitrogen gas (N2) through denitrification. Chemical energy: Stored in nitrogen gas (N2).

Nice! Even though you're already familiar, here's a diagram of the carbon cycle because it's really a lot to remember : http://www.ucar.edu/learn/images/carboncy.gif And water cycle : http://upload.wikimedia.org/wikipedia/commons/thumb/9/94/Water_cycle.png/320px-Water_cycle.png Which part of the question did you need clarification/help on? :)
nitrogen cycle....if you have maybe a link to explain it :)
thnk you for the help wach!
Sure. Here's a diagram of that cycle to look at : http://www.elmhurst.edu/~chm/onlcourse/chm110/outlines/nitrogencycle.html (has the best chemical references)
Most nitrogen is found as a simple gas component of the air (I'm sure you know that Nitrogen is one of most prevalent gases along with oxygen in our atmosphere, etc :). But how does this gas get turned into a form useable by plants? Some variations of nitrogen are formed in intense 'accidents' or 'reactions', such as with the lightning in a storm. MOST nitrogen becomes part of the biological process when it reacts with special bacteria in a process called nitrogen fixation : Where simple nitrogen is turned into NH3, or ammonia. And then other sets of bacteria take this ammonia into different Nitrite ions - NO2 or NO3. These are easily taken up by plants.
thanks for the help! i got it and i understand thank you!
Plant material is eaten by consumers, and eventually returns to the ground in a waste-form, and is converted into ammonia and put back into the cycle. Denitrification is what returns soil-nitrogen back into atmospheric nitrogen - other bacteria complete this process.
