A company is asking the answer to the following problem? p=0.15 x -28 if they sold one unit the cost is 150.00 how many wuld they need to sell to make 100,000 in profit and what would be the profit or loss if they only sold 5000.

Is there more info needed to get to the answer I am not sure any help would be appreciated. Thanks

The question is not clear - if the company sells 1 unit, was the cost for the customer and the profit to the company $150.00 or was the production cost $150.00?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

cost of making the unit is 150

OpenStudy (anonymous):

this is exactly how they show it broken down. cost of ereader $150 (0.15x1000), with 28,000 (28*1000) in constent charges

OpenStudy (callisto):

Is it the equation for finding the profit: p=0.15 x -28? Is x the unit sold?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

yes and yes

OpenStudy (callisto):

Why do we have ''if they sold one unit the cost is 150.00 ''? Profit = Selling price - cost .. Isn't it?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

yes

I'm not sure if I'm correct.. But I'm thinking ... For ''how many would they need to sell to make 100,000 in profit'' Put P=100000 into the equaiton and find x. For ''what would be the profit or loss if they only sold 5000.'' Put x=5000 into the equation and find P.

ok thanks I will try that

Welcome and good luck!
