mathslover (mathslover):

need help in understanding smart score : how does problem solving increases

Parth (parthkohli):

It is given in your profile too, but I'd explain more. Problem Solving increases by answering more and more questions.

OpenStudy (asnaseer):

I believe it's a combination of /magic/ and /wizardry/ :) honestly I have no idea on how the smartscore system works.

mathslover (mathslover):

so it does not depend on how much medals i get for how many quest.?

Parth (parthkohli):

It does.

OpenStudy (lgbasallote):

"answering questions" lol. nice answer.

Parth (parthkohli):

Actually, it doesn't depend much on the ratio. You still have a high SS if you got 1000 questions answered and 25 medals received.

Parth (parthkohli):

SmartScore has not been made so smart that it counts the ratio

mathslover (mathslover):

oh k thanks a lot @ParthKohli

OpenStudy (lgbasallote):

parth is a master developer so he knows all of these

Parth (parthkohli):

Not to mention: I am just an observer, and some of my observations have got me to this conclusion. I'd leave it to the administrators to point out if I am wrong. thanks!

OpenStudy (lgbasallote):

mehhh..im pretty sure you're right since you explained it with much conviction! ^_^

mathslover (mathslover):

very right parth ..

OpenStudy (cwrw238):

how can the smartscores go down? by you making mistakes??

OpenStudy (farmdawgnation):

Generally the best way to have Problem Solving go up is by getting medals for helping people with their questions. @cwrw238 No, SmartScore is a percentile score. So if someone's raw score increases, then they move to a different slot. If their slot is above yours, your smart score will decrease.

OpenStudy (cwrw238):

aahh - i see - thank you

OpenStudy (lgbasallote):

that's what makes it fun

OpenStudy (lgbasallote):

btw @farmdawgnation i noticed when i got 100 engagement score many people's score decreased by 2. is that automatic whenever someone reaches 100?

OpenStudy (farmdawgnation):

Is the shifting automatic? Yes. But there are some people at 99, of this I am sure.

OpenStudy (lgbasallote):

hmm maybe it just happens to people who dont touch that subscore. but if they keep the subscore active then the dont get a shift
