Okay. So it looks like we're learning about the difference between when to use SER and ESTAR. Let me explain that. SER is use when you're talking about something that is lasting. Permanent. -Like when you're talking about the way someone looks. -Their personality characteristics. -Where they're from. ESTAR is use when you're talking about a state of being. Something that is NOT necessarily permanent. Or, when you're talking about location. -Like how someone is feeling. -Where someone or something is. -What someone or something is doing, at the moment. ~~~~~~~~~ I'll give you the answers to two of your problems, as examples. 1. La puerta está abierta. It means, "The door is open." And we have to use "está," because the door doesn't ALWAYS have to be open. It's a state of being. Next one. 2. Victor y Carlos son de Puerto Rico. It means, "Victor and Carlos are from Puerto Rico." We have to use "son" in this one. It's the correct form of "ser," for this sentence. This is because we're talking about where someone is from. We always use SER when we're talking about where someone is from. Because the way they see it, no matter where Victor and Carlos go, they will ALWAYS be from Puerto Rico. ~~~~~~~~~~ If you have anymore questions, please ask!
