solve for x

OpenStudy (allank):

Hint: Tan27=34/x

OpenStudy (allank):

Are you able to work for x now? @Kemi15

OpenStudy (anonymous):

\[ \tan (27 {}^{\circ})=\frac{34}{x}\\ x=\frac{34}{\tan (27 {}^{\circ})}=66.7288 \]

OpenStudy (anonymous):

yeah sorry im still not getting it

OpenStudy (allank):

@Kemi15 Do you know that Tan (x) = Opposite side/Adjacent side ?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

no i don't know that

OpenStudy (allank):

Sorry for the late reply. That is the trigonometric ratio we are using here. Now that you know, the opposite side to angle 27 has a length of 34, and the adjacent side has a length of x. Therefore Tan 27 = 34/x. Check how @eliassaab worked out for x. Are you with me now?

OpenStudy (allank):

I hope you're okay @Kemi15 . It would be good to also check out these other trigonometric ratios: Sine and Cosine.
