For each point as starting point of a vector say (1,0), you draw the vector {1/2,0-1}={1/2,-1}. You do this at several points. I did my graph with a computer. But the idea is simple.

Ah,but when the equation equals 1/2 At (0,0) how come the vector isn't bigger?
