Would be grateful if someone could explain the solution to the "Fermi Problem" about Europa???

OpenStudy (anonymous):

What section and problem. Link it if possible.

I'm sorry for taking so long with a solution for this. I started the problem and got partially done then I checked my work with the answer key and cannot figure out what they did to simplify for the g of europa. My work so far is attached

OpenStudy (anonymous):

jmerson is the G my itself in the answer?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

they somehow reduced it to: \[g_{eur}=\frac{R_{eur}}{R_{ear}}g_{ear} = \frac{1}{4}g_{ear}\] see: http://ocw.mit.edu/courses/physics/8-01sc-physics-i-classical-mechanics-fall-2010/problem-solving-and-estimation/MIT8_01SC_problems02_soln.pdf
