From the point of view of your immune system, what are the most likely consequences of picking your nose?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

It can cause damage to the lining of your nose, which your immune system will then have to repair. It removes the helper T cells stored in your nasal mucus, making your body less likely to produce a nonspecific immune response to pathogens. It pushes any pathogens on your finger up into your nose and removes mucus that was there to trap them. It can leave dirt and allergens inside your nose, which your immune system must remove by creating specific antibodies which can attack them.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Which of the following best describes the evolutionary relationship between modern humans and chimpanzees? Humans descended from apes, while chimpanzees evolved from a different, more primitive ancestor. Humans and chimpanzees are both primates that diverged from primitive common ancestors. Humans descended from chimpanzees and therefore have the same evolutionary ancestors. Humans evolved independently of chimpanzees and do not share a common ancestor.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

@sheldon16

OpenStudy (anonymous):

with my knowledge i belives the answer is b

Which of the following best compares the roles of mitosis and meiosis in human reproduction? Haploid sperm and egg nuclei fuse through meiosis, while the diploid zygote is formed through mitosis. Haploid sperm nuclei are formed in the testes by meiosis, while the diploid zygote divides through mitosis. The diploid nucleus in a zygote is formed by mitosis, while haploid gamete nuclei are formed by meiosis. The diploid zygote nucleus divides through mitosis, while haploid gamete nuclei divide through meiosis.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

:D

OpenStudy (anonymous):

@sheldon16

OpenStudy (anonymous):

B

OpenStudy (anonymous):

A is incorrect because meiosis and mitosis have nothing to do with the egg and sperm fusing and formation of the zygote C is wrong for the same reason D is wrong because although the zygote does divide through mitosis, gametes do not continue to divide once they have been formed

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Alright:D thanks for explaining it bro! Ill tag you if i need more help:D

OpenStudy (anonymous):

cool

A population of hummingbirds is composed of individuals with short or long beaks, which they use to reach nectar inside flowers. A flowering trumpet vine that produces many deep, bell-shaped flowers is introduced to the region, resulting in fewer short-beaked and more long-beaked hummingbirds. Which of the following conditions most likely caused this shift in the hummingbird population? Hummingbird predators avoided areas where the trumpet vine grew. Hummingbirds that compete for nectar were more successful with long beaks. Hummingbirds with short beaks overproduced offspring with longer beaks. Hummingbirds starved because the trumpet vine limited the food supply.
