Why do so many cultures have divinities in similar roles?

because regardless who you are and where you come from its tradition for most to want to believe in something bigger than themselves and since nobody was at the start of earth everyone has their own versions as to how it began thus creating a story of how we came to be. or maybe they just have their own versions of the truth.
