Why not save polar bears / arctic food web? Here are some reasons people argue :
- Sources of energy are found in arctic regions. For example, the Alaskan pipeline is a source of oil that America considers valuable, economic incentives threatening the ecosystems/species there. Another example is the Canadian tar-sands which are full of crude oil.
- Pessimistic attitude that 'the ice/arctic is melting anyways, naturally, so it's too late to do anything/impossible'
- Further economic incentives - ie it would cost a lot of money to try and prevent issues like global warming or overconsumption.

Oh! Another reason is that some regions with arctic animals, ike polar bears, aren't 'owned' by any countries (Antarctica) so it's no one's responsibility.
