Mustafa Kemal 'Ataturk' (meaning father of the Turkish people) was known for being the first president and founder of the Turkish state. He's very, very cool and extremely important in the Turkish culture. Notable stuff he did:
- Gained Turkish independence. He used to work in a high position under the Ottoman Army but rebelled in the Turkish War of Independence
- Became first Turkish President
- As president, had very innovated reforms that were very different from the undemocratic middle-eastern societies. They were ahead of their times, notably organizing the country, having a more secular society, increasing women's rights, and improving education drastically.
