Solve the inequality 3x + 7 > 9x - 17

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Move the 7 over change it from + to -, because it changes over. Then devide both sides on 3.

Collect like terms, start by subtracting 3x from both sides: \[3x-3x+7>9x-3x-17\] goes to\[7>6x-17\] Then add 17 to both sides, you get: \[24>6x\] Then divide both sides by 6 and you end up with \[4>x\] which is the same as \[x<4\]
