U-sub question....

OpenStudy (konradzuse):

lets say I have u = x^2 +4x+12 du = 2x + 4dx

OpenStudy (konradzuse):

now I know normally I will divide by 2 to get 1/2 du = xdx, but in this case I have the extra, 4... do I subtract it, or how do I deal with it? What other kinds of rules are there for this?

OpenStudy (experimentx):

what's your original Q?

OpenStudy (konradzuse):

int (2x-4)/x^2+4x+13... I want to solve it on my own, but setting u to that might not be the answer, but I was curious what you do in certain u-sub cases... :)
