How did not having a clear line of emperor succession lead to the fall of Rome?
The Sack of Rome, you mean?
or the decline of the Roman Empire?
Decline of the empire. it said that somewhere in the lesson and I didn't know what it meant.
The ancient Roman Empire was prosperous until about 180 AD when Emperor Marcus Aurelius died. Problems relating to Imperial Succession : There was no established method of passing down the crown. Since there was no ruler when the Emperor died, the military generals, who were high up in Roman social classes, took their armies and warred amongst the other generals for control of the throne. Essentially, they ended up destroying themselves in conflict, and the Empire eventually split. That's just a crude explanation but hope it helps :)
Aaah, okay. That makes sense now
