You roll a red die and a green die. What is the size of the sample space of all possible outcomes of rolling these two dice, given that the red die shows an even number and the green die shows an odd number?
does this gives a choice for answers??
yes it does A. 18 B. 9 C. 12 D. 36 E. 6
Sample Space = { 2 , 1 } , { 2 , 3 } , { 2 , 5 } = 3 { 4 , 1 } , { 4 , 3 } , { 4, 5 } = 3 { 6 , 1 } , { 6 , 3 } , {6 , 5} = 3 Size of sample space = 3(3) = 9 = B
I don't understand
the chances of getting odd is 3 the chances of getting even is 3 3 * 3 = 9
now do you understand
somewhat
okay so you have two dice right
one you want the even numbers from so that is 3
the other you want the odd numbers from so that is 3
then you just multiply them together to get your answer
ohh I see it now, thanks so much! you helped me a lot
