Can someone help me with this? Not sure what to do? Transform the figure three times. Use each of the following transformations one time: dilation, reflection, rotation. You can use the same coordinate plane to create these new figures. Be sure to include the rule for each transformation.
I had to make a 8 sided figure btw,
I don't have much time left unfortunately, but for this problem it's important that you understand the three transformations (what they mean) first. Then the problem should be easy, if you can choose the order yourself, I recommend you to choose this order (for simplicity): reflection, rotation, dilation
okay, i know you said you dont have alot of time left but may i ask how to make a reflection, rotation, and dilation? Like do i have to use a formula? Im so sorry i forgot :/
Well to be honest, with this problem I can't tell what you are allowed to do and what not, this problem sounds very open to me. Like there are multiply ways of reflection, reflection about the x-axis is one, you could also reflect along a line. Also you can rotate with respect to the origin or just with respect to the center of the figure.
dilation is the easiest one, it just means to scale up or down, so you scale up all sides by a scaling factor (scalar)
then you can choose reflection about the x-axis, this is the easiest reflection for this problem, your convex polygon will change from the first quadrant into the fourth quadrant, with equal distance in respect to the x-axis.
The rotation one is the hardest, but only because I don't understand what kind of rotation they want, if it's an affine rotation, choose along the origin (use a circle for help maybe and choose an easy angle, 90 degree) If you can choose freely, just rotate the convec polygon with respect to its center, maybe choose 90 degree as well
okay i think im getting the hang of it thankyou
