Can someone help me understand this lesson?? Solving systems of equations by graphing???

OpenStudy (anonymous):

you have to graph the equation.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Yes but this whole lesson is just confusing and my teacher doesn't help at all?

OpenStudy (cunningham2000):

Graph each line separately. You can use a slope y-intercept method, or you can just pick an arbitrary number for x (such as zero or one) and solve for y. You now have an (x,y) coordinate and can graph the point. Just keep picking points for x until you have a line. Do the same thing for your next equation. The "solution" is the point at which the two lines "cross" or "intersect".

OpenStudy (cunningham2000):

If you graph the two lines on your calculator, you can also see where they intersect and you can actually use a function on your calculator to give you the point. It's easiest to have someone show you how to do this.

If you don't have a calculator, google is a good way to go.

@merridad954 which class ru?
