I dont know whats the name of this method in english but thats what i use to solve:
x=-7+4y
-4(-7+4y)+4y=-8
28-16y+4y=-8
-12y=-8-28
y=-36/-12
y=3

(5,3)
OpenStudy (anonymous):
x-4y=-7
as x=5,
5-4y=-7
-4y=-7-5
-4y=-12
y=3

-4x+4y = -8........(i)
x-4y = -7...........(ii)
add equation (i) and (ii)
-4x+x+4y-4y = -8-7
-3x = -15
x = 5
substituting x= 5 in (ii)
5+7 =4y
y = 12/4 = 3
(5,3)
