Why did Cherokee leaders feel they needed to sign the treaty with the U.S. government? The Cherokee felt that they could not avoid removal. The Cherokee felt the loss of the other tribes that had already left. The Cherokee felt the western lands were better than what they had. The Cherokee felt they should trust the U.S. government to do the right thing.
