What does LuAnn Walther mean when she says Plath was "one of those great Rorshchach icons in which everyone sees something different in her work?"

OpenStudy (anonymous):

umm have you heard of the inkblot test? basically she means plath was someone everyone had a different opinion about.

*Rorshchach inkblot test

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Rorshchach tests are the tests where you see picture in ink blots- they meant that her style is highly versatile, that many people can read her poetry, just like how people can see an ink blot and can create their own idea of what it looks like- and each person that read one of her poems can have a personal interpretation of the experience and still be correct

Rorshchach created inkblot personality tests. Each person tells what they think they see in the inkblot. Walther simply means that everyone who reads Sylvia Plath's "Mirror, Mirror, on the Wall" sees something different in it.
