9-2x=7-x

Parth (parthkohli):

\[ 7 - x = 9 - 2x\]

OpenStudy (anonymous):

i got x=-16 dunno if i am right.

Parth (parthkohli):

Let's check then.\[9 - 2(-16) = 9 - (-32) = 41 \]\[ 7 - x = 7 - (-16) = 23 \]

Parth (parthkohli):

Does not satisfy.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

still confused.

OpenStudy (karatechopper):

Can you show me the steps u used to solve this equation?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

9-2x=7-x +x +x 7=-1x-9 +9 + 9 16 = -1x x=-16

OpenStudy (karatechopper):

Ok...You were lost on your first step. You are supposed to add '2x' to both sides. not just x:)

OpenStudy (anonymous):

i got x=2

OpenStudy (karatechopper):

Good that is correct

OpenStudy (anonymous):

awesome, thank You karatechopper.
