NAthan, Joshua, Michelle and Denise were in a room where a porcelain vase was found broken. When an inquiry was conducted by the building cartaker, each made a statement

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Nathan: Denise broke the vase Joshua: Michelle did it Michelle: I did not do it Denise: Joshua lied when he said Michelle did it.

@Hero

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Is my answer correct ? Assume that Denise didn't break the vase. Since there are two true statements,based on assumption Joshua statement that Michelle did it is FALSE, since it condtracdicts the other statements. Since Joshua's statement is fals that makes Denise's and Michelle's statement TRUE, leaving nathan statement to be FALSE. Which means either Nathan or joshua broke the vase.

What's the question here????

OpenStudy (anonymous):

The caretaker knew that only two statements were true and concluded that Denise broke the vase. Describe in complete sentences the method you use to show that the caretaker made an incorrect conclusion

@Aenslii

@Callisto

@amistre64

OpenStudy (anonymous):

@jorgesnz please help

OpenStudy (anonymous):

The caretaker conducted the injury so he should know who did it...

OpenStudy (anonymous):

@Aenslii we have to describe in complete sentences that the injury made an incorrect conclusion.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

@goformit100

OpenStudy (anonymous):

No one was hurt so how is their and injury?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

@Aenslii I don't know, the vase was hurt.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

You realize for the caretaker to be incorrect he has to make a statement.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

@problemsolver can you help me ?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

th[inking .... :D

OpenStudy (anonymous):

@problemsolver thank you, i have to go to the bathroom but i'll be back.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

okay here goes...

OpenStudy (anonymous):

back

OpenStudy (anonymous):

@katiebugg

OpenStudy (anonymous):

i think there is some problem with ques

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Denise and michelles statement are mutual , if one is true then the other will be true ,and if one is false the other will be false ... so either the top 2 statements are true or bottom two...

OpenStudy (anonymous):

now since the top 2 statements contradict each other , they cannot be both true , which means that the bottom two are true , so this leads us to the fact that denise did not break the vase , which is exactly opp of wha t thje ques asked

OpenStudy (anonymous):

@problemsolver so my answer is incorrect ?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

oooh ok well thanks for all your helpi really appericate it :)

OpenStudy (anonymous):

oh wait i reread the ques ,,,, your answer and the ques both are correct :)

OpenStudy (anonymous):

yesss :D thanks again.
