An artist designed a badge for a school club. Figure ABCD on the coordinate grid below shows the shape of the badge. The badge is enlarged and plotted on the coordinate grid as Figure JKLM with point J located at (2, -2) and point M located at (5, 4). Which of these could be the possible coordinates for vertex L?

@goformit100 could uplease explainn how?

OpenStudy (goformit100):

Use distance formula

on what?

OpenStudy (goformit100):

on the given coordinates

If you plotted point L on (5,1) it would not resemble the badge drawn in figure ABCD. All the question is asking is to plot point L on the enlarged picture. We can tell from figure ABCD that L is referring to point C and M is referring to point D. We can also tell that C and D have the same y coordinate. and since C is to the right of D then the x value increases. I would think that the answer is (8,4).
